Gaming Girl (Pin Up?) Calendar
So the blog seems to be fruitful! It is sprouting ideas as I type here! It is stimulating minds! And, hopefully, the eyes as well. Soon.
A friend came up with a rather genius idea when reading this and another friend’s blog and combined the two latest topics which dealt with gamer girls (you’ve hopefully read the promising announcement) and the unfortunate death of Betty Page – a gaming girl calendar! Pin up, or not, I find the idea very tempting and am already thinking of settings and gamers. We need to be quick, though. The end of the year is approaching rapidly, there is not much time left to work on this calendar. Let’s not even talk about coordinating 12 incredibly busy gamer girls for the photo shoot. This mission not-quite-impossible-but-close-to-impossible is on! I will keep you updated.
Ideas for settings are always welcome. Make them reasonable, though. Make them g-ratish. Pin up is not porn. One is subtly sexy, the other often moist. Easy to confuse, I know.

snookums, honestly, there is no way this can be done before 2009.
but i have ideas for settings: what about presenting a hallmark of geekdom every month? like mmorpg, retro games, programming, larp, tabletop, comics, console, shooter, cthulhu, pen-and-paper, star wars, … . with or withour clothes *grin*
But but…this negativity! I think we can pull it off! I think it can be done! You can’t burst this bubble of mine!
Seriously, I’d like to pull off this stunt, but if it’s not going to work (and it’s close to impossible, I admit) then this monthly hallmark of geekdom (preferably female) is a really nice alternative.
The girls decide the clothing level, I’d say. Nudity is not the main focus, but showing that female gamers really are attractive and interesting and clever and just as geeky as the guys.
Great idea, if you need someone to take pics you know where to find me…
Cheers, Cliff.
Ah, now this is a plan! We haven’t done anything in a while and I say we should! But, as you’ve probably read, the idea was slightly altered – a monthly hallmark of geekdom in this blog instead of a hasty calendar at the end of this year. Which will leave us enough time to print a calendar at the end of 2009.
Is this UK or US based? Also, are you talking computer gaming or RPG/LARP? Or both?
Sounds good, I think that is a wiser plan of action instead of rushing it now…
My offer still stands…
Cheers, Cliff.
see? see?
by the way, since i now earn my living as an editor, i’d gladly do the layouting, should the need arise (for both virtual and print publication).
Neither. Austria-based (Vienna).
Both – and more, actually. TCG, RPG, LARP, board games, computer games, console…anything goes, really.
Would you be interested in the project? Since the calendar will go “digital” first the location should not be a major issue, as long as you have a photographer at hand, or model, depending which side of the camera you prefer.
Btw, I’ve came across your blog and noticed you’re a fellow gamer girl as well. Very pleased to meet you.
What kind of games do you play? Which medium?
Your offer is gladly accepted. Let’s do this. With a plan.
Sounds good, especially since my last layout-job was a year ago. Or even longer.
Berzerkraccoon:
I used to be a tabletop RPG gamer, as well as LARP (the one without swords and chainmail
). Life got in the way and I moved on to online text RPGs, then more recently into consoles. In the next couple of years, we’re hoping to get into the full chainmail and LARP weapons gig. Woohoo!!
How about you?
And no, I won’t sit in on a calender, the only camera friendly part of me is my cleavage. But I do have a gaming girl friend who is cute, pretty and goth from the tip of her toes to ends of her hair. I’ll email her the link to your blog.
Thanks for good post
